For the eleventh day in a row, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people have been resisting new and new attacks by the Russian occupiers in various directions. Ukraine appreciates all the assistance provided by international partners. However, for the sake of security and freedom, Ukraine NEEDS NATO a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Such actions will help protect Ukraine from Russian planes, drones and missiles. In addition, it is extremely important that other countries close their skies to Russian planes, following the EU, the United States and Canada.
The Russian occupiers are using methods that violate the rules of war. They attack civilian infrastructure, killing and injuring civilians, including children, and make actions that can have regional and international consequences. On March 5, the Russian occupiers continued air, rocket and artillery strikes on residential areas of Kharkiv. During the day, Russian planes dropped bombs on the sports complex of the Karazin Kharkiv National University "Unifekht". This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. Later, Russian aircraft struck the Saltivka district, damaging 10 apartment buildings. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. On March 5, the Russian occupiers continued airstrikes and artillery shelling of the civilian quarters of Mariupol. There is no detailed information on the number of victims, as there is no stable connection with the city. There is no electricity, water and heating in Mariupol for four days. According to the Mariupol City Council, in the afternoon of March 6, the Russian occupiers guaranteed a ceasefire to evacuate the population from the city. But they did not keep their promise, so there is no opportunity to evacuate people from Mariupol.
Russian troops are committing war crimes in the temporarily occupied cities of Ukraine. The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova said that in Trostyanets, Sumy region, the Russian occupiers control the ambulance station and do not allow doctors to react to calls for help, do not allow coming doctors from other cities. For disobedience, they threaten to shoot. In addition, the Russian occupiers now do not allow to bury the dead residents of the city. Also, according to Lyudmila Denisova, Russian troops have robbed grocery stores in Trostyanets, so residents are unable to buy food.
